So, I have my own hoe-downs. Me and my husband in my backyard. (And yes, I do own an old wooden wagon wheel!) One of my favorite things to throw on the grill is a big ol' slab of Seitan Ribs, complete with cedar bones.

I usually go for a simple tofu/veggie kabob. Once I did pizza on the grill and that was yummy!!!
Corn all the way! Dang it, I wish we had a grill.... those ribs looks INSANE.

Barbecue Seitan Ribs
3 cups (432 g) vital wheat gluten flour
1 cup (120 g) whole wheat flour
1/4 cup (30 g) nutritional yeast
2 tablespoons (16 g) onion powder
1 tablespoon (8 g) garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups (470 ml) water
1/2 cup (125 ml) barbecue sauce, store-bought or homemade
1/4 cup (60 ml) steak sauce
2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce
2 tablespoons (30 ml) liquid smoke
2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil
2 cups (470 ml) additional barbecue sauce for baking and grilling
6 bones (See note below)
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C, or gas mark 4).
Line a 9×13-inch (23 x 33-cm) baking pan with foil or parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, mix together dry ingredients.
In a separate bowl, mix together wet ingredients.
Add wet ingredients to the dry and knead for 5 minutes.
Let mixture rest for 20 minutes.
Shape mixture into a large rectangle, to fit in the pan, with at least an inch of space around the edges.
Push the bones through the mixture, at equal distances from each other.
Pour additional 3/4 cup (180 ml) barbecue sauce into the bottom of the baking pan.
Place “rack of ribs” in the pan.
Spread another 3/4 cup (180 ml) barbecue sauce over the top.
Cover pan tightly with foil and bake for 90 minutes.
You can enjoy these as is, or refrigerate for later use.
To reheat, fire up the grill to give ribs extra smoky flavor and grill marks. Brush with 1/2 cup (125 ml) even more barbecue sauce while grilling!
Finger Lickin' Good: Disposable bamboo chopsticks or even Popsicle sticks work wonders here, but if
you want to kick it up a notch, try food-grade cedar cut into 1/2-inch x 6-inch (1.27 x 15-cm) “bones,” makingsure to sand down any rough edges. Whichever you choose, start by soaking them in a mixture of 2 cups (470 ml) warm water mixed with 2 tablespoons (30 ml) liquid smoke to add some smoky flavor to the ribs. For an edible set of bones, try taro root. Although this method will yield edible “bones,” they will be more flimsy after cooking, thus requiring a fork and knife for eating.
Yield: 6 large ribs

Cauliflower, grilled. Goodness, delicious. Sprinkle salt and balsamic vinegar...yum! Or even BBQ sauce or soy sauce! And I will ALWAYS love grilled corn! With sea salt and lime juice. Try it.
Joni, these ribs look awesome. Vital wheat gluten is one of the few things currently in my bare pantry. It looks like I'm going to have to give these a try. :) Where do you get your cedar bones?
My favourite grilled foods are sweet corn, tempeh, kabocha squash, beets... actually, I think anything is better grilled.
My favourite foods to eat outdoors are tomatoes (straight from the plant), radishes (straight form the ground, rinsed in hose water), quinoa salad at the lake, bbq corn (on a stick, at the farmers' market) and, again, I think anything is better eaten outside. Throw a stick on it (kabobs, popsicles, corn dogs...) and it's even better.

My favorite things to grill are Portabella mushrooms and skewered new potatoes rubbed with olive oil and garlic. These ribs look amazing.
I love to make swordfish and mushrooms, pepper, zucchini kebabs on the grill (recipe on my blog if you're interested)!
Damn those look good!! My favorite on the grill is pizza!! Or tofu kabobs. Or seitan kabobs. Or veggies. Or fresh fruit. Or fresh veggies..... Um, everything!!
I buy food safe cedar planks at Whole Foods (near the meat department, unfortunately!) and my husband cuts them for me!
I have never been a huge BBQ fan, but lately I feel like that's changing.

Yum! That looks delicious. I only wish the weather in Scotland would improve so I could do some BBQing :( When I lived in Japan though, my favourites were the black bean grillers from 500 Vegan Recipes! So good!
Hi Joni! Thanks for this excellent giveaway. I really love freshly grilled corn on the cob and, although I haven't tried it yet, I love the idea of grilled pizza.
When cooking outside Grilled Corn can't be beat. Except that I "have" to get into it well before it's cooled and burn myself. There is no other way.
Love to eat broccoli off the grill -- just need some olive oil and jerk rub for seasoning!
Actually cooking outdoors always seems to end up a disaster for me, though I love to eat outside! So, we usually make a BBQ-esque meal, and then eat it outside and pretend that we cooked out. ;p Tofu pups are my fave, although I've been a little obsessed with Tofurky's kielbasas lately...
I enjoy a good tater pig over a campfire. Veggie dogs stuffed into baked potatoes and covered with chili. Yes.

Pressed and marinated tofu is wonderful on the grill. I love its chewy texture and the smokiness that's imparted in the flavor. Lemon rosemary tofu is one of my favorites.
I have always loved potato salad, I just veganised it the way my Mother used to make it, although she used Miracle Whip! We all love those ribs too, I do them without the 'bones' and we have them with coleslaw which is my 9 yo's favourite summer outdoor food!
I do not like to eat outside unless it's cooler than 100 degrees!! So the only think I'll take outside with me now would be a tasty pina colada to drink at the lake.

I love to grill stuff in foil packets, you can do anything that way! My faves are caramelized onions in the packet and grilled broccoli (wrapped in foil). And those seitan RIBS look amazing. I gotta try 'em.

Can't believe I still haven't made those ribs yet. I made the berry bircher muesli for breakfast from the same book yesterday and loved it.
Being in England we don't get to eat outside much...but when we do a fave has got to be English strawberries with lashings of macadamia or cashew whipped cream :)
We LOVE grilling in the summer. I'm big on teriyaki marinated tofu and olive oil/salt/pepper marinated cremini mushrooms, sweet Vadalia onions, organic red bell pepper, and local zucchini and squash. I can't get enough Jersey summer produce :)

This is a tough decision, but I think my favorite thing to grill is kabobs. Your protein and veggie cook up together on a stick -- always a fun presentation -- plus, you can vary marinade so that you can have any type of kabob from Indian, to Italian to Southern barbeque.

I love to eat outside while camping. Late summer when it's not 100 degrees. Breakfast potatoes have always been a favorite. Since I'm fairly new to the veggie world, I can't wait to try some veggie dogs grilled over the camp fire. When it's super hot out I enjoy really cold watermelon and I love that when I'm done eating it my chin is cold. Awesome simple pleasures.
I love eating summer rolls outside, and homemade popsicles!
I still have yet to make these seitan ribs which I think my husband would love! But now let's get on to business. ha! Living out here in California we grill almost year round so this will be tough so here it goes....pizza, seitan steaks with chimichurri sauce and Roma tomatoes(they get so sweet and tasty).
